Yerba Style Examples
The Metal Straw
- It's called "La bombilla".
- It has a filter at the rounded bottom part, made up of little holes. This allows the brewed juice to pass, but not the mate yerba particles.
Drinking Tips
- Do not move the straw once water is poured: it makes the mate particles enter the straw.
- Add sugar and honey. Otherwise, it will be bitter.
- Traditionally used with hot, but not boiled water. Try tereré, the Paragauyan version, used with cold fruit juice.
